Record Pressing Tech

Vinyl Record Press Media have assembled an extensive playlist of over 350 YouTube videos that serve as a comprehensive visual archive of the vinyl record manufacturing world. This curated library captures every facet of the vinyl production process, from the mechanics of pressing machines—both vintage and cutting-edge modern equipment—to intimate behind-the-scenes tours of pressing plants scattered across the globe.

The collection goes far beyond simple factory footage, delving into the specialised crafts that make vinyl production possible, including how they conjure up those wild and weird custom vinyl colours. Viewers can explore the precision art of lathe cutting, where audio signals are physically carved into master discs, and witness the intricate electroplating process that transforms those masters into the stampers used for mass production.

The playlist also features detailed examinations of both traditional lacquer cutting techniques and the more modern Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) approach, offering valuable insights into how these different methods shape the final sound quality.

At its peak, this factory pressed nearly 20 million vinyl records a year.
The Beatles. Pink Floyd. Queen.
The sound of an entire century — all flowing out of one place in West London.
This is the story of the EMI pressing plant at Hayes — once the beating heart of Britain’s music empire. A place where technology, artistry, and industry collided to shape how the world listened to music.
But empires don’t fall overnight.
From the birth of recorded sound in the late 19th century… to the rise of vinyl, the explosion of Beatlemania, and the golden age of British music… this factory stood at the centre of it all.
Until it didn’t.
A corporate takeover.
A technological shift.
And one catastrophic financial gamble.
This is the untold story of how Britain’s vinyl empire disappeared — not with a bang, but in silence.
And how, against all odds… the machines began to turn again.
This video is a researched history documentary. The script and story are based on real events and verified sources to the best of our ability. Some visuals are AI generated and used only as illustrative context when authentic archival photos are limited, they are not presented as real photographs of the exact people or locations unless stated. Any archival images or footage shown belong to their respective owners and are used in a transformative way for commentary, education, criticism, and historical analysis under Fair Use.

Inside The Biggest Vinyl Factory Making 70 Million Records A Year

Vinyl Record Press Media February 3, 2026 2:00 PM

Once, from the banks of the Delaware River in Camden, New Jersey, a single factory spoke to the entire nation. This was the RCA Camden Plant — a 58-acre industrial empire that gave America its voice, its music, its radio, its television, and even the technology that carried human words to the Moon. From the rise of Victor Talking Machine and the iconic image of “His Master’s Voice,” to the golden age of radio, television, wartime radar, and space-age communications, this factory stood at the center of American innovation for nearly a century. Then, almost silently, it vanished. In this documentary, we explore how the RCA Camden Plant was built, how it dominated the world of sound and electronics, and how one of America’s greatest industrial giants was ultimately forgotten.
