Public Records
Based in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, Public Records Co.Ltd is the world’s sole manufacturer of blank lacquer master discs in 10/12-inch and 14-inch sizes—an essential component in vinyl record production. Public Records started producing lacquer discs in 1982, and they’re exported worldwide by MDC. They are the only company globally producing blank lacquer discs since the demise of LA-based Apollo Masters in 2020. They manufacture about 450 units a day, or 10,000 units a month.
