DMM Cutting Studios

Total Sonic Media digital and analogue mastering studio in Austin, Texas, has put together this resource list of studios (all based in Europe) that still offer DMM/Direct Metal Mastering using the Neumann VMS-82 cutting lathe. DMM was developed in 1982 by Neumann and Telefunken-Decca (Teldec) as a refinement of vinyl mastering and uses a diamond stylus to cut directly into copper (instead of lacquer), mounted on a Neumann VMS-82 lathe.
